Frequently asked questions

How do I know when my baby has got fever?

Sometimes babies become too warm due to the amount of clothing they are wearing. If your baby feels warm to the touch but cools down quickly when undressed and is also acting normaly, then it is likely it is not a true fever and should not give you cause for concern. A temperature of 38.3 degrees Celsius (101 F) or higher probably is a true fever.

What are the common causes of a fever?

The most common causes of fever in a baby from 4 months onwards are viral infections. If your baby has symptoms of a viral infection, such as a cold or diarrhoea, especially if he/she has been exposed to others with the same symptoms , then he/she may have the same infection. But remember; don’t depend on fever as the only sign of infection.
